We’re going to be redesigning the Children’s Maritime Discovery Centre (CMDC) in the coming months, and we’re looking for public input. We pride ourselves on being a family-friendly museum, so we want to hear from Lower Mainland Families.

The CMDC will tell the story of the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s busiest port. It will include information about the people with connections to Vancouver waterways, activities on the waterfront and environmental issues associated with Vancouver waterways.

We have not yet settled on all of the features of the new space. We know we want to create a welcoming space that Lower Mainland families will want to visit again and again.

That’s where you come in. Tell us what you want to see in the new space. Do you want more hands-on activities, or would you like to see more visual content? Do you want to learn about the port’s past, or do you and your family want to explore future technology?

Fill out the survey below to let us know what your family wants from the Vancouver Maritime Museum to help us create a space that makes you and your family feel welcome.

The renovation will start late this year and we’ll open the new Children’s Maritime Discovery Centre some time in 2021. We will set up a temporary family zone while the renovation is taking place.

We’re excited to be refreshing the CMDC, which has been a favourite with our family members for years. And we can’t wait to learn what Lower Mainland families want to see. The survey takes only about three minutes, and we promise that every suggestion will be given serious consideration.

NOTE: THE SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO RESPONDED. YOUR INPUT IS INVALUABLE TO US.
