The Vancouver Maritime Museum is offering free admission on Canada Day. We will also be offering free educational resources on Indigenous history.
We encourage visitors to engage with our feature exhibition Canoe Cultures: Building a Legacy to learn about a local Indigenous-led initiative to teach young people how to build racing canoes.
We recognize that for many years museums—the VMM included—have not fulfilled our mandates to provide representations of history that work to include a diverse array of perspectives. We are working to address this and to commit ourselves to sharing the stories, culture and traditions of those who have been omitted from historical accounts. We are also committed to providing a platform for the voices of the people of these communities. The Canoe Cultures exhibition represents a step toward becoming a more inclusive institution.
To take advantage of free admission on Canada Day, all you need to do is book your visit for July 1 online. Then show up at your scheduled time and check in at the front desk. No promo code is required.
