VMM STEAM Summer Day Camps

Looking for an affordable and fun Vancouver summer day camp your kids will love? You’ve come to the right place. VMM STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) day camps feature inquiry-based learning and outdoor play. Each day includes activities and games that will ignite your child’s imagination.

The beautiful waterfront location provides the perfect backdrop for fun maritime-themed activities for kids.

Days: Monday – Friday

Hours: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Ages: 6-12

*We accept children who turn 6 years old between Jan – Dec 2023 into this camp.

Price: $275/week

Discount for families with multiple children:

2 kids = $500/week

3 kids = $675/week

By the Sea Shore

July 3rd – 7th

Explore the wonders of water and the importance of oceans in By the Sea Shore camp! In this camp kids will learn about the Burrard Inlet and the way that local First Nations have lived collaboratively with the nature of the coast and the waterways around which they live. Campers will have the opportunity to engage with Indigenous art, language, and culture through a variety of exciting and educational STEAM activities!

Maritime Mythology

July 10th – 14th

The sea has inspired dozens of myths from cultures all over the world. From the Kraken to sea dragons, selkies, mermaids, and more. This camp is filled with exciting activities, all to do with the stories told about creatures below the water. Campers will learn about different legends of the sea, where they’re from and how they came to be. So, bring your favorite ocean-themed tall tale and join us for Maritime Mythology camp!

Arctic Animals

July 17th – 21st

Although covered in ice most of the year, the Arctic Ocean is home to hundreds of mammals, birds, and fish. In this camp, participants will learn about the species that live beneath the northern ice and discover how they exist in such extreme environments. Kids will explore the Arctic tundra and find out how communities, such as the Inuit, have sustained themselves in the North for thousands of years.

Sailor Skills

July 24th – 28th

Have you ever wanted to learn how to be a sailor or how to operate a ship? This camp will have campers ready to set sail in no time as they learn how to hoist the rigging, repair leaks, tie knots, and sing sea shanties! Aspiring sailors will also learn all about the ins-and-outs of charting, sounding, reading a compass, following the stars and more as they explore the history of navigation as a key tool of ocean travel!

Boats on the Bay 

Jul 31 – Aug 4th

The ocean is all around us, but travelling it can be a difficult and dangerous undertaking! In this camp, learn how boats, ships, and submersibles help us cross the oceans, build communities, and explore the depths. Campers will become familiar with all kinds of water vessels and their roles in our waters – from wooden schooners to cargo ships to canoes and submarines. Get ready to be a sailing expert!

Fearsome Pirates

August 8th – 11th

(Short Week, BC Day) 

Welcome, landlubbers, to pirate camp. A pirate’s life is an exciting and dangerous one, so prepare yourselves to join an adventure like no other! Campers will dive into the swashbuckling world of piracy, where they will learn about real fearsome pirates! Kids will hunt for buried treasure, learn about the most famous pirates of all time, and even become pirates themselves!

Deep Sea Discovery

August 14th– 18th

The deep sea is one of the world’s final, and most exciting, frontiers of discovery. With over 240,000 known species, campers will explore the deepest layer of the ocean and the vast quantities of marine life living there. They will learn the history of deep-sea exploration and discover why the ocean can be so interesting and so important to explore.

Ocean Activists

August 21st 25th

The climate is changing, and with it, our waters. Why is water so important to our world and how is climate change affecting it? What can we do to save our oceans and be helpers in the fight against global warming? This environmental camp will teach campers about different climate activists and how they are addressing changes in sea-level, biodiversity. They will also discover how the planet is changing and what they can do themselves to preserve it!
