We want everyone to get inspired by our new exhibit, By the Shores: Maritime Paintings in B.C., and create their own art to celebrate the beautiful view of the fireworks we get over Heritage Harbour during the annual Celebration of Light.

By the Shores showcases the beauty of B.C.’s maritime landscapes and the generations of artists who have been inspired by them. It presents a tour of maritime scenes of our beautiful province through the museum’s painting collection. The experience begins in the heart of Vancouver and its port. Visitors then travel across the Lower Mainland, to Vancouver Island and finally to the northern coast of B.C. The exhibition features artwork from recent years as well as pieces from the early days of ship travel in the province.
