Join the Vancouver Maritime Museum and Adventure Canada for a special evening with acclaimed Canadian writer, explorer, and storyteller Dr. James Raffan as he takes audiences on an unforgettable journey through the Arctic.
Drawing on decades of travel throughout the circumpolar world, Raffan shares remarkable encounters, surprising discoveries, and enduring stories of the people, landscapes, and wildlife that define this extraordinary region in changing times.
Through vivid storytelling, stunning images, humour, and personal insight, Telling Tales from Arctic Trails explores what the Arctic can teach us about resilience, imagination, reconciliation, and our relationship with the land.
From remote northern landscapes and waterways to the people and communities who call the Arctic home, Raffan brings one of the world’s most compelling frontiers vividly to life—inviting audiences to see the North, and our relationship with it, with fresh eyes.

About Dr. James Raffan
Dr. James Raffan is one of Canada’s most respected writers, explorers, and storytellers. The author of more than twenty books and hundreds of articles, he has spent a lifetime travelling Canada’s rivers, landscapes, and cultural frontiers in search of the stories that shape who we are.
A former geographer and educator, Raffan has served as Governor of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and Chair of the Arctic Institute of North America. Through his writing, speaking, and performances, he brings history, adventure, and human experience vividly to life.
