This summer, we’re thrilled to share the progress on the revitalized St. Roch exhibit, an Inuit-led renewal and the largest project the Vancouver Maritime Museum has undertaken in 66 years. Accessibility is woven throughout the new gallery with transcripts, American Sign Language (ASL) videos, and audio descriptions so that more visitors can meaningfully connect with the stories.
Led by Martha Kyak and Deborah Kigjugalik Webster, the exhibit will bring together newly recorded oral histories, photographs, and artefacts that have never been on public display before. Stories from the crew, Inuit guides, Inuit Special Constables, and their families will help visitors get to know the people, places, and experiences behind St. Roch.
