Join us at the Vancouver Maritime Museum for an evening with Nicholas Verrochi, caretaker of Argonaut II, for a conversation about BC maritime history, traditional wooden boatbuilding, restoration, and the power of community.

Nicholas has brought the story of Argonaut II to hundreds of thousands of people around the world through his YouTube storytelling and documentation of the vessel’s ongoing restoration.

Hear how this remarkable boat connects to BC’s northern coastline, learn about the craft and challenges of preserving a historic wooden vessel, and discover how an online community has come together to help keep her story alive.

The hour-long presentation will be followed by a Q&A with Nicholas.

ABOUT THE VESSEL

ARGONAUT II

Argonaut II is a 104-year-old wooden vessel whose story connects thousands of people along British Columbia's northern coastline. She now undergoes a restoration through the power of online community and hundreds of thousands of supporters around the globe. Nicholas Verrochi, the caretaker of Argonaut II, leads the restoration and historic preservation through digital storytelling on YouTube. The Argonaut II Foundation is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation focused on telling the story of Argonaut II and the rich history of the remote northern coastline of British Columbia. The preservation and storytelling efforts are through grassroots fundraising, volunteering, and donation-based contributions, inviting thousands of people interested in maritime history and wooden boatbuilding to participate in the story of Argonaut II. This is done through the engagement of thousands of people throughout the Pacific Northwest and hundreds of thousands around the globe through video documentation of the restoration efforts, the craftsmanship of wooden boatbuilding, and sharing the storied past of Argonaut II and her connection to the BC coastline.
